LEGEND
Many myths surround St. Patrick. One of the best known and most inaccurate myths is that he drove all the snakes from Ireland into the Irish Sea, where all the snakes drowned.
PATRON SAINT
St. Patrick is one of Ireland’s patron saints, but he was not born in Ireland. He was born in Britain and died in the fifth century. Brigid of Kildare and Columba are the other two patron saints of Ireland.
PART OF HIS YOUTH
As a boy of sixteen, St. Patrick was kidnapped, taken to Ireland and sold into slavery. He escaped and returned home but years later returned to Ireland to build Churches and spread Christian faith.
