TV CRYPTOGRAM PUZZLES: Solutions

ORIGINAL NAME

The creator of SpongeBob wanted to call the character Spongeboy, but it was discovered that the name was already in use for a mop product. He still wanted sponge to be prominent in his name, so he changed it to Spongebob. Squarepants matches his body shape and just has a good ring to it.

LONG RUNNING SHOW

Spongebob has surpassed Rugrats as the longest running cartoon on Nickelodeon. It will also be the first Nicktoon show to surpass two hundred episodes.

SPONGEBOB CHARACTER

The creator wanted the lead character to be child-like and naive, but not a child. He wanted Spongebob to be a man-child similar to Stan Laurel and Jerry Lewis characters.
