TRADITIONAL DINNER

The centerpiece of American and Canadian Thanksgiving is the large dinner. It usually consists of turkey and foods native to the New World that Pilgrims received from the Native Americans such as corn and root vegetables.

THE TURKEY

Most Thanksgiving turkeys are stuffed with a bread based stuffing and roasted. Sage is the traditional herb added to the stuffing, also called dressing. Although most people roast the turkey, some people deep-fry it. They can also be braised, grilled, fried, boiled or barbecued.

SIDE DISHES

Many people wouldn`t think of having their big meal without cranberry sauce, stuffing, and gravy. Other common foods for Thanksgiving include winter squash, sweet potatoes, mashed potates, corn on the cob, pumpkin pie and much more.
