VALENTINE CRYPTOGRAM PUZZLES: Solutions
FIRST CARD
The first known Valentine card was sent by Charles, the Duke of Orleans, to his wife in fourteen fifteen. He sent it from his prison cell in the Tower of London. This card is still on display in an English museum.
BIGGEST GIVERS AND RECEIVERS
Teachers receive the most Valentine cards, followed by children, mothers, wives, and finally sweethearts. Children aged six to ten are the biggest Valentine card givers.
BIRD MATCHMAKERS
It was once believed that different birds flying overhead indicated who a woman would marry. A robin meant she would marry a sailor, a sparrow meant she'd marry a poor man but will be happy, and a goldfinch indicated a millionaire.
